The short version
WhatPing is free, in beta, and provided as-is. It is built and run by one person. It may go down, miss a check, or fail to deliver an alert. Do not make it the only thing standing between you and a serious outage.
The service
WhatPing monitors endpoints and domains you configure, and sends alerts when a monitor changes state. It is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier.
No SLA and no warranty
There is no uptime commitment, no availability guarantee and no support commitment.
Concretely, and worth reading rather than skipping: a check may be missed. An alert may not be delivered. The service may be unavailable when your service goes down. No compensation is offered for any of this, and none is implied by the fact that it usually works.
If your monitoring must be contractually reliable, use a vendor who will sign something. The Better Stack comparison is honest about where that line falls.
Acceptable use
Monitor things you own or are authorised to monitor. WhatPing fetches URLs at intervals you set, and using it to generate load against a third party, to probe infrastructure you do not control, or to circumvent access controls is not permitted.
Accounts doing any of the above may be suspended without notice.
Your account
You are responsible for your credentials and for what your workspace members do. Passwords must meet a minimum strength requirement and email verification is required.
Your data
See privacy. You can request export or deletion at any time.
Changes
These terms and the service itself may change. Material changes will be announced on the changelog. If paid tiers are ever introduced, existing monitors will not be switched off without notice.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like. WhatPing may suspend or terminate an account for the acceptable-use reasons above, or discontinue the service entirely — in which case you will get as much notice as circumstances allow.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WhatPing is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service, including any outage it failed to detect or alert on. It is a free beta tool provided as-is.
